Baba Yaga Piano Legs

The piano legs, lid stick and piano trim were designed and created for the Steinway & Sons art case piano Pictures at an Exhibition by Paul Wyse and inspired by Modest Mussorgsky’s most famous piano composition.
The piano legs are fashioned in the Russian Revival style of the 1870s, after Viktor Hartmann’s painting of a Baba-Yaga clock .
The 1000 pound model D Steinway piano appears to rest precariously on three wooden huts perched on bronze chicken legs. Each piano leg is comprised of over 800 pieces.
